Leadership Recruitment & Executive Search

It takes a leader to know a leader. Full Glass Consulting specializes in affordable executive search for nonprofit and philanthropic organizations.
What Makes Us Better

  • We Are Uniquely Nonprofit Focused.
Successful recruiting for nonprofit leaders is a unique challenge, and demands a process that is often radically different than a standard corporate search process. We have extensive experience in, and focus exclusively on, recruiting within the nonprofit sector.

  • We Rapidly Engage.
We understand that transition periods for nonprofit organizations are stressful for the Board and remaining staff. Rapid engagement and a swiftly moving hiring process are essential. In as little as a week, we can work with you to build a high-quality ideal candidate profile, get board buy-in, and get word of the opening into the community.

  • We Understand The Importance Of Communication.
If there is the possibility of bad media coverage or negative rumors in the community about the leadership change, it will harm your ability to recruit a new leader. Because we specialize in helping nonprofits through transitions, we help you manage the careful communication about the leadership change with your key stakeholders, including the media, donors, partner organizations and others.

  • We Own The Process.
All too often, volunteer Boards try to save money and resources by running the search themselves. That means that candidates often don't receive timely, indvidualized responses when they apply, which can mean that your most interested candidates move on to other positions. From first contact to final offer, we make sure that the process runs smoothly and that candidates are engaged during the process, and excited and ready to serve on Day One.

  • We Are Affordable.
Nonprofits usually do not have the luxury of having an executive search line item in their budgets. Not only that, but the transition created by the leadership change may be exacerbating cashflow worries. We understand. We bill our clients at a reasonable hourly rate and work quickly so that expense is minimized. Our thorough, start-to-finish process usually costs our clients approximately $5-$7,000, leaving your cash in the salary line of your budget to pay your new leader. Traditional headhunters and percentage-based search consultants can easily run as high as $30-40,000 and deliver far fewer qualified candidates.
Sample Search Process (Total of ~45-60 hours)

  • Plan: Develop a detailed timeline to include all elements of negotiated scope of work. This phase also includes communication and transition coaching to set the stage for a successful search. (~3-5 hours)
  • Prepare: Conduct brief interviews with at least three Search Committee members to identify key competencies of incoming leader, and develop a written position announcement and “profile” of ideal candidate. (~3-5 hours)
  • Post: Develop and launch a far-reaching job posting and outreach strategy which cost-effectively leverages multiple resources, including statewide and regional alumni associations, existing nationwide nonprofit executive networks and listservs, web-based nonprofit job boards (e.g. idealist.org, Craigslist, opportunityknocks.org, execsearches.com, industry-specific boards, and more), email and phone outreach to leaders in related local and regional organizations, and traditional media outlets (if appropriate and/or necessary). (~15-20 hours)
  • Pre-Screen: Work with Search Committee to identify top applicants, and call and pre-screen qualified candidates, providing written summaries and rankings for review and selection of three to five candidates for face-to-face interviews. (~8-10 hours)
  • Present: Coordinate interview logistics, including site-based support for candidates and Search Committee during face-to-face candidate interviews, preparation of interview questions, and more. (~8-10 hours)
  • Propose: Support the Search Committee with all required background and reference checks, and act as liaison to negotiate with the finalist, including recommendations for an appropriate compensation/benefits package and start date. (~8-10 hours)
