Start-Up, Operational and Growth Planning
Responsible for start-up and all operations of new organization modeled after the highly successfully Harlem Children’s Zone and focused on providing wrap-around services to break the cycle of intergenerational poverty for children and families in a 5.6 square-mile community in Charleston County, South Carolina.
- Helped secure FY 10/11 funding of $400K, funding commitments for $550K in FY 11/12 and $800K in FY 12/13
- Conducted detailed research on best practices in the areas of parenting, education, employment, community revitalization, housing and healthcare
- Developed and began implementing an evidence-based, targeted three-year strategy for infusing resources into four high-poverty, under-achieving elementary schools, and
- Created ongoing partnerships with educational institutions, governmental partners, and business and philanthropic investors to support our outcomes-focused goals.

Future of Orchestral Music in the Lowcountry
During a period when the regional orchestra had closed its doors, led an 11-month project providing consulting support for a community-wide project designed to ensure that orchestral music remained a vital part of the regional arts scene.
- Developed and conducted a series of World Cafe-style community forums, with 400+ participants
- Created and administered a community-wide online public input survey
- Provided staff support to an executive and philanthropic steering committee
- Worked closely with the committee to research and prepare a 170-page report with public recommendations to the community

Strategic Community Engagement
Multiple projects for hospice and healthcare-related clients in Florida, South Carolina and Montana including beginner and advanced trainings/workshops and the creation and launch of several strategic outreach and communications plans designed to reach local and regional target audiences leveraging socal media and other grassroots community engagement approaches.

Development and creation of a full start-up business plan for an entrepreneurial socially-responsible business in the healthcare industry, including industry/competitive analysis, market segmentation, pro-forma financials, and marketing strategy.

Founded and Launched Consultant Matching Service
Designed innovative web-based matching service that matches nonprofit organizations with consultants and service providers in an eight county region of coastal South Carolina. Service also provides "Thrive! Prize" capacity-building grants to local nonprofits.

Staff Retreat and Employee Satisfaction Survey
Worked closely with in-house planning team to design a web-based employee satisfaction survey and subsequent team-building retreat for the 150+ staff in 16 different clubs. At the retreat, the entire staff developed a new "staff creed" which includes the way that they work with each other, families, and the youth that they serve.

Community Engagement and Executive Search
6-month consulting contract to help open a new National office of the ACLU in South Carolina. Created a web-based survey for members, conducted a series of statewide focus groups with key community stakeholders, evaluated and recommended key program priorities, and then led the search process for the incoming new executive director and staff attorney.

Strategic Planning and Board Coaching
Facilitated full day strategic and half-day fundraising planning session with full Board/staff to establish priorities, build a current year action plan with measurable goals, and create a timeline with activities and responsibilities. - Ended the fiscal year in the black after several years of threatening deficits
- Partnered with the Catherine French Group to recruit and hire new Executive Director
- Successfully negotiated 5-year collective bargaining agreement with musicians’ union
- Conducted a community-wide unmet needs survey and used data to drive new marketing and sales strategy
